Default dash lights/musty smell

2 questions.
How do I replace a dashboard light. I have a 01 Protege and the dash lights on the left side dont work.
Secondly, when I turn the air conditioner on, I get a musty smell. How do I get rid of this smell???

i cant answer your first one, but i had a huge odor problem with my car. what i did that worked finally, was used a product called nok-out. it can be found at pet stores and is intended for removing pet odors from fabrics but it worked wonders in my car (used to have a dense cigarette smell). you spray it in the return air vents on the dash, and run the fans at full blast with air recirculation on and the windows up. do this for 5 minutes, then respray again and this time keep the windows down. repeat this twice and it should work. your car might smell like a swimming pool for a bit but will fade off fairly quick.

THX chunkdude, I will give that a try. Okay another thing I remembered. Has anyone else experienced trouble with the airconditioning settings. My air conditioning works on 1 or 4, (sometimes) otherwise I can get it to work if I place it just right between the 3 and the 4, but if I hit a bump, voila' no air!?!

Sounds like the fan switch is screwed. It should be fairly straight forward to replace, go to a boneyard that will let you remove it yourself, so you can practice on their car before trying it on yours.
