Life of clutch
how may miles do most of you guys get out of a clutch? Currently I have 183,500 miles on my 1996 1.5L and still going. The last Mazda GLC that I had the clutch went a little over 275K miles before the car would not longer pass inspection due to exessive blow by and no compression to speak of.

RE: Life of clutch
A lot of it depends on how you drive, or at least, how good you are at manipulating the clutch.
My last car was a Sentra and I put 160k+ on the clutch and it was still fine when I traded it in.
I beat the crap out the car, too. But not like I was dumping it at 3000k all the time, though.
I'm close to 70k on my Protege with no problems.

RE: Life of clutch
Forgive me if bringing up an old posts is bad etiquette, but I thought this was an interesting question.
I have a '95 Pro LX that I bought new and I currently have 206K miles on the original engine and clutch. I take it easy on the clutch, but I have also been towing my 4x8 utility trailer and 400 lb. ATV around frequently since 60K miles. I have been using full synthetic gear oil since off warranty and change it every 60K miles or so. This may not affect longevity, but it sure makes shifting gears easier in cold weather before the oil warms up.
This manual tranny and clutch are awesome! I love the low gearing, especially for towing and hills. I just wish it had a 6th gear.
