Follow this link

go to page 96. This deals with code you are getting. It could be as simple as a clogged air filter.

That link is for the whole shop manual.

Hi all,
My Mazda Tribute, 2006 2.3L L3 motor threw fault code P0506 recently (around 180,000km).
I looked up this forum and it was very helpful.
I checked the air cleaner, and it was very dirty (dated 2016), so ordered a new one.
The hose that is connected to the throttle body was removed, and the throttle body inspected. The vane/casing was quite dirty, I used carby cleaner and rag to remove all the deposits.
During the inspection, I noticed that the flexible pipe, that joins the air cleaner box to the throttle body had a crack. Not having a spare, i used duct tape to seal the crack and see if this helped the fault.
Reassembled car and found:
Idle speed steady at 900 RPM, when A/C turned on, it held 900RPM, before this, when the A/C was turned on the RPM dropped to 700RPM.
The fault has gone away (done around 50km) of driving.
Hope this helps the next person, cheap simple fix (around 30 mins work).
