Manitenance Recommendation

Manitenance Recommendation
Hi Need your inputs on Maintenance Recommendations on my Mazda Protege 2000. I have 70K miles on the car. Last maintenance i did with the dealer was at 30K. I would like to avoid the dealer now.
Hence i would appreciate if someone would give feedback is i take it to a local mechanic what are things i should be looking for general maintenance like Tune up etc.
The car still runs great with no problems !!
Appreciate your feedback.

plugs and wires would be a good start. then, belts possibly, depending on the shape of them and the last replacement. your timing belt will be coming due in another 30k miles, so if you wanted to get that out of the way, that would be fine. if the car is running well, i wouldn't do too much.

If it is an automatic, have a deep flush done and replace the fluid, and do a deep flush on the coolant.
I have always changed fluids, plugs, cap and rotor every year, and have always gotten high mileage on all my Mazda's

+1. these kinds of things can fail before they are due for a change and cause problems. i had a plug's fire tip shatter and score a cylinder pretty bad. i do plugs, wires, and coil packs every year on mine. i also have synthetic oil that i change every 3k miles instead of the 5k recommendation. had a geo metro that saw 200k before i sold it and it is still running.
