Thanks Mate. I saw you purchased a new SP20 noice hehe. When I first moved to Aus in 2002 from NZ we sold our B16a EG civic for 2k thinking we could come to aus and buy another one and got shocked at how much imports were here lol. So i just bought a cheap ford probe and met a guy from NSW who had a KLZE in a Mazda Capella. Those engines are wild arent they. Man I thrashed the **** out of that probe just to stay on his *** so he didnt leave me behind on the highway.

Mazdas are the best bang for the buck IMO. I think you lucked out with the Audi selling it when you did without major and/or expensive repairs.

I always look after my cars. Audis 2012 and higher are more reliable. I drove it new and sold it after putting 170k on the clock. I was also very concious about the DSG gearbox having friends with VWs that had DSG gearbox **** themselves. Basically the Transmission fluid was changed everytime I did an oil change. I also took care with the way i drove it. Instead of leaving my foot on the accelerator when shifting manually, id let off slightly, switch gears and then hammer it again. I did this because I understood that the DSG still uses clutches and I figured it would wear the clutch out less if i unloaded the transmission between shifts even though it preps the gear beforehand so its ready to shift.

When I drove it in auto i never let off cause the computer was frikken awesome at gearshifts (better than me). I only switched it into manual if I wanted to have a short street race with someone to trick the trans to go immediately into manual mode as you cant launch in manual mode. I also stocked up on parts for the Audi so the buyer had a ton of service parts to last them a few years ranging from rotors, brakes, filters, cabin filter, ton of premium oil. The buyer when she inspected couldnt believe how good i had kept the car for the mileage I had put on it. She had seen other Audis and said mine was the best of the lot. I used to get **** about scratching up the plastics so noone was allowed to scratch my panels or mark them with their bottles or whatever **** they carried in my car. Also deep cleaned the interior about once a month with a special vaccum I had purchased for around 1200. Car still looked new lol inside. I sold it for $13900, was a 2016 Audi A1 with 170k on clock. Then sold my plates for 10k the week after lol cause they were 2 digit plates which arent available anymore.

Most cars will last a very long time if you take care of them but yes the Proteges are the best bang for buck car right now. The proteges are the equivalent to the reliability of the corollas in the 90s.
