New Battery, Rebuilt Alternator, Still a Battery Light
#11
Be careful: it's worth doing a good inspection/ cleanup of the main chassis ground plate that your battery negative cable is connected to, and the main engine ground on the passenger side engine mount. If either of those aren't well bonded, the alternator will be underloaded, and even with an intermittent ground, the no load alternator voltage will jump high enough to damage it.

OK, Do as much as you can of the checklist I posted; they are very important.

Maybe you meant to say off the information posted by other members on this thread?

2000 mazda protege
Having same issues took mazda in had
alternator checked dead in the water but this is the second one this year. Daughter randomly bought it used in Feb. We're not sure of its history but I'm guessing not the best salvage title.
Anyway battery same now looking at new issue what is causing her alternator to burn out?

Generally it is better with service question to start your own thread for help. While it may seem that you have the same problem it is seldom the case to many variables. The one I see standing out is the *salvage title.
So maybe start your thread and a few of us can start a positive Q&A specifically for your Mazda.
Make sure when you do that you enter the vehicles information.
Year
exact model
miles
and any and all resent in the last 6 mo. service-related work done including what parts were replaced,
Also the estimated life of the battery?
And where and what brand are you getting alternators from as well new or rebuilt
So about the same information you would fill out at any service shop.
* salvage titles can hold key information about current running gear, drivetrain and chassis problems and concerns that can come up!
