new brakes installed
ok can somebody tell me where I went wrong
when I press my brake pad down it goes lower than it normally was
the new breaks work kinda but I have to press down a little harder
any reason why it is like that
I already pressed the brake down repeatidly after finishing brakes

The rear brakes set the pedal height. Clean/adjust your rear brakes. If you can pump the pedal and it comes back up then there is air in the system and will require bleeding or a new master cylinder. On rare occasions a proportioning valve will become stuck. Brake fluid should be replaced every 30k miles.

Replace all fluid. It works just like bleeding but you keep pumping until the fresh fluid shows at each wheel.
If you have a manual shift replace the brake fluid in the clutch hydraulics as well.
The rear brakes auto adjust when you go reverse and hit the brake.
The e-brake levers inside the drums can get stuck and make the rear brakes drag. I just did our brakes yesterday and I had to put the plate that contains the e-brake lever and auto adjust into a vice, spray it with PB blaster. I had to pry on the e-brake lever (looks like a 2 tine fork) to make it move.
