OEM Replacements
#2
I've got the shop manual for the 2000 1.8L Protege. Depending on the emission regulations of the state where you get inspected, the manual says inspect at 60K mile intervals and replace at 120K miles, or for strict jurisdictions, replace at 60K mile intervals. The belt replacement is quite a job, so the usual procedure is to do belt, idler, tensioner, water pump, and accessory drive belts at the same time. The complete OEM kit costs about $200, but then you know you've got good stuff, and worry free driving for another 120K miles.
