Default oops

so they cant swim eh

i will be need in a new motor soon for my 2000 protege 1.6. anyone know a good spot to get one im in eastern canada. how much work would it be to put a 2.0 in it.

as long as you stay with the same year model and basic options, the wiring would be the same. for example, you couldn't convert an ABS system to non-ABS.

you will have to get a longblock because the head won't fit from 1.6 to 2.0

so i drained the water out of the motor changed the oil and its running. well sorta its got a low end tick you can harldy hear it when in the car. any idea what this might be

fixable or line up a new motor??
doesnt seem to be down on power or anything.

probably a valve tick. the valves probably got stuck when it got wet and one of them is probably hitting the top of one of the pistons.run a compression test to find outif this is it or not.i would do a valve job and throw on a new head gasket.
