Default Stereo + Speaker wiring

Hi,
So, I just tried to install a new radio and failed. The radio powers up and works fine, but I don't hear anything. It's a 2000 Protege dx, and everything works fine with the factory stereo.

I'm a complete noob and have no idea what I'm doing but have the common sense to unplug the - end from the battery and connect -- and ++ from radio to speakers. It's a pain to wrap and unwrap those wires, so I guess my question is, do all of the speakers have to be connected to the stereo before any sound will come out? Any other suggestions are welcome.

Thanks.
BTW, I used this to find out what goes where: http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/...tail/1403.html

just double check your wireing make sure the (+) and (-) are correct and that you don't have a + going to a - cause if thats the case no it won't work

Oh, haha, thanks.
I got it to work though. The rear speakers were burnt out so I just had to isolate those and its good to go.
