buddy all i was askin for is where i could get some blocks for the rear end. thats it. sorry my links dont work. if i have done that much damage to the car already why would i get a new one. this isnt my daily driver. this is my competiton/hop around town in car.as for broken parts, roof supports, trunk hinges, interor pannels, weather stripping around the windowsis not in any way gonna jepordise who rides in the car. the car is mechaniclly sound.

 

I really don't understand the purpose of stereo wars. I'm basically a performance guy @ heart and if I ever replace the crappy factory speakers, it'll be because they were sun/weather damaged or I had some mod money left over after doing everything else. (Yeah right.That'll happen.) Frankly, I hardly ever use the thing anyway.
I appreciate many different kinds of cars, from exotics, to classic sports and muscle cars, race cars,lead sleds, show cars to rat-rods, to low-riders and bombs, but there are a few things in the automotive world, even after all my years studying it, that I still have trouble understanding

So explain to me what is the purpose? You said you have an '02 which isn't really that old, but you seem set on destroying it w/excess sound. Why?
To see how much power, how many 1800w amps,and how many 18" subwoofers and other speakers one can fit in a confined space? To make ears bleed from 150 yds away? To blow the tires off the rims fromexcessive SPLs? To vibrate the car to bits... kinda' like a burn-out comp where they go until the tires blow, which I also have a little trouble understanding?
Please explain the attraction so that I might better understand.

 

its just my thing. ive been buildin custom stereos in cars since i was 16. you wana know what it comes down to. its a hobby. thats it. it keeps me occupied and outta trouble.i am gonna be competing all over the east coast this year. i mean i can sit here the whole day and ask you the same thing. why do you do engine mods and all that. cause you like you car to be quick. i like my stereos loud. i recone/rebuild my own speakers and build all custom boxes.i have a custom 200 amp alt wound for the car. 6 runs of 1/0 wire from buss bars under the hood all the way back to the rear. 34/78 ngt under the hood for a batt and 2 for now possibly 3 g31 NGT batts in the rear. 2 resonant engineering MT 12" dual. 7vc subs that will be in 5.5 cubes tuned roughly to 38 hz with 130sq" of port. and a vfl 500.1 amp runnin at .7 ohms for daily and down to.35 for burps. roundin out to about 5200 watts for daily driving and over 6k for burps. i know that allis prolly going right over your head but thats the same ish that happens when people start talkin about turbos and what not to me.like i said its a hobby and its for competition and fun at cruise nights. you personally really have no idea how loud a 150bds is sealed up in a car its pretty f'n crazy. and like i said i would just like to stiffin up the rear end a lil. i never had any intentions on maken this car fast it was strickly a hop around town car cause itsgreat ongasand stereo car. thus traveling around the east cost its not gonna cost me a arm and a leg.plus when i have my daughter in the car for the lil bit shes in it i have everything tuned off. i run kill switches to all my amps. i am not that ******* either that drives around with it full tilt all day either. that phase was gone once i was outta my teens. and yes i respect all other makes, types, models of cars. i have a 1980 el camino ss thats my" work on "car. iam hopen tohave the car fully done withinabout 4 years.and when i am out with the fam i have a 1999 grand prix gt. i bought that mazda with 34k on it in 2006 for $3400 off a neighbor so how could i pass that up. its just too small of a car for me to drive everyday. i feel cramped in that car. so thats why i turned that into my comp car. threw a set of rims on it, tinted it, rain guards and called it a day.

 

Actually, if you mean that the tech talk went over my head, you'd be wrong.
I had been an amateur workingmusician, often doing the elctrical repairs to equipment. And I workedin commercial radio.Roadied for a working club DJ back when you took and set up ALL your own equipment. I never wanted to do that last bitmyself, but enjoyed helping outa DJ friend/coworker setting up speakers and boards, running cables... the electronic, technical stuff.
I also used to setup "home theater" systems for people that couldn"t figure out how to get sound from their VCR's to the stereo or surround system.To me it was simple. The only hard part was the matter of circumstantial logistics. (Room size, where they physically wanted everything and how to make it sound w/o vibration or muddiness and look good there.)
That"s all a bit beyond me now though. This new age computer, wireless controlled stuff has outgrown my ability or interest in it.
I'm glad you are not one of those thumpers that drives down the street, and through neighborhoods, with the trunk vibrating up a storm and the back light (window) about to explode. But do you know that 120db is enough to cause permanent hearing damage in less than 1 minute? 112db in about a minute?
For all the Rock concerts I went toand sat up front forin my youth (RUSH, the loudest rock band of it"s timecomes to mind,) I got out pretty lucky I guess. But even now I notice that highs are not as clear as they used to be.

 

my buddies van that we built is doin 162 dbs at the dash. as for trunk vibraten and all that. mine doesnt vibrate, its moves over 3/4" up and over a 1" back thus the broken welds. my roof moves over 3/4" and my windsheld jumps about a 1/4". i cant sit in the car for more than a couple songs full tilt. but i have all my eq's set for diff circumstanes. for burping, bassrace, outlaw, daily driving and all that jazz. ive been doin this like i said since i was a teen. all my vehicles have been easy 140+dbs and my hearing is still crisp and clear as ever. even though i wear plugs when burpin the car
