transmission trouble - heeeeelp!!!
bought a 1990, 323 protege for my son to drive to work, auto transmission that was rebuilt 2/09/08. after filled with gas, was pulling out on hyway, everything going fine, motor reved up to shift, let up on gas a little for transmission to shift, then there was nothing. coasted to a stop along hyway.
when you put the gear shift in any of the gears, nothing, no go at all. you can hear a slight decrease in engine rpm when you put it in one of the gears, and that's it. transmission fluid level is okay on dipstick. jacked car up looked at driveshafts, they appear all tight, nothing broke down there that i can see.
the previous owner spent $3000 on tranny repair just last february.
help please.......
ideas anyone?
thank you for any and all help.......

Did this happen suddenly, or was there progressive degradation?
Here is a list of items external to the transmission which can cause the symptoms you describe;
Transmission linkage.
Parking Mechanism Malfunction.
Cable Harness Problem (poor contacts/ damaged connectors/ wire).
Transmission Sensor Ground or Chassis Ground Connection.
Faulty A,B,D or E solenoid.
Pressure Control Solenoid Malfunction.
Control Valve Body Malfunction.
Low Line Pressure.
Torque Converter (usually progressive, with slippage, worst when climbing or accelerating hard).
