Would definitely be checking to see that the fuel pump is getting power cowboy 8. Pump is located under car towards rear just inside of left rear wheel area. Should be only 2 wires to it. Blue with white stripe is power in, Black is ground. Should even feel like it is vibrating with key on or cranking. If no power then might check the fuel pump cut relay under the dash just to the inside of the steering column. Four wires to it. 2 are Black with white stripe and are power into the relay with key on. Blue w/ white stipe is out to fuel pump and Black w/ Yellow stipe is coil ground to the ECU. Fuse for entire system is in underdash fuse box (do not have an image but looks like racerboy may in your other thread). Is a 20 amp fuse anyway. Look like it should be 2 down from the start of one of the rows with a 15 on one side and 30 on the other side of the fuel pump fuse.
You don't have a clogged fuel filter do you?

Let me know what you find and if you have some problems with locating things. Do not have a 85 carb Rx7 handy for pics but will throw some pointers as best I can.
