Default Clutch pedal to the floor.. stays.

Hi All Another issue has arose for me.. Hope someone can help me out.

I had been driving for about 2 hours, mostly in 5th gear, highway miles.

As I got into my town I was on Main St. in 3rd gear, I came to a left turn I downshifted to 2 as I made the turn and as I sped up I shifted to 3rd gear...

When I put it in 3rd and let foot off Clutch pedal, the pedal stayed to the floor.

I used my tip of my shoe to wedge under and pull up pedal, then pushed the pedal down again and again it stayed down...

I then shifted to Neutral - engine running normal.

I rolled a while and then tried to put it in a lower gear 2 or 1, but no go.. Then I tried 3rd which I was in when it happened and it went into 3rd... I made it the 2 more blocks and got home.

Pedal stays to floor, unless I physically lift it up. I can start the car only with pedal down, but now can not put into any gear at all....

What happened to my car? Anyone help please with advice...

THANK YOU ALL IN ADVANCE
Some of you have been super helpful with other issues I've had and I Thank You

sounds like you either shredded the clutch brake or the master cylinder is out. is there any fluid leaking? is the brake/clutch fluid full?

I have had a slow leak I assume. Recently, I needed to add brake fluid.

I've read about my issue with clutch pedal.. most are saying that my Clutch Slave Cylinder needs to be replaced. - Sound correct ? -

If so, not too expensive of a part, but tough on the labor.. pull transmission to be able to replace the slave cylinder.....

Sounds like Clutch Master Cylinder. Check the rubber hose that goes to it. Those dry rot after a while.

Is it possible to get the car in gear and drive it about 1/4 mile to a station I have nearby?

How so?

fill the reservoir and pump the hell out of the clutch pedal. that will give you clutch for about 10-15 seconds at a time. i don't advise driving like this in any kind of traffic and i don't recommend going very far, but you should be able to make it right down the street.

Hey Guys - Thanks for all your help with this one.

I got it to a mechanic about a 1/2 mile from me.

I have done some of the work on this car myself with the help of a knowledgeable friend.. but this one I was a bit hesitant on. I also read that the Slave may require removing the trans to get to it.

Luckily, removing the trans was not needed.

It was indeed the Clutch Slave Cylinder, they said it was on the side of trans and easy enough for them to get to it.

So replaced the Slave, replenish the fluid in Master, bled the air from the system - Parts/Labor
All in total was $197.00

I am ok with that.. man when I put the clutch to the floor and it didn't come back up, I was thinking ... oh man, how bad is this??

Thanks again for all of your input!!
