Default mazda will start fine then die in a few seconds

I have a 86 mazda rx-7 hatchback and its standard and fuel injected with about 150,000 miles on it
It starts fine and goes up to about 2000 rpm then it dies even when i push on the gas.I checked the fuel filter and it was fine and the fuel pump seemedto work fine. It runs when i spray starter fluid in it and that isthe only way i can keep it running. Does anyone got any ideas i would greatly appreciate it.

Take the top off of the air cleaner assembly, move the air flow meter flap a few times to see if it moves freely, also check for cracks in the hose from the throttle body to air flow meter. The flap type air flow meters have to have a perfect seal. A common problem was cheap air filters melting into the air cleaner and restricting the flap movement.

Also check the intake gasket for leaks. They are famous for this problem.

Have you done any work on the car before this started...this stinks of a huge vacc leak.
How about the air flow meter plug? Is that connected?
Can you pull the codes off the ECU?
