need knowledge
Im a new member here, so please take it easy on me, but ive always been a fan of the rotary and especially the mid 90's RX7. In fact, im looking to purchase one in the near future, so if anyone out there has any suggestions, comments, concerns, and or just general feedback, please throw it my way. Im an idiot on this car as of now, but the only way to learn is through experience, whether it be mine or someone elses. Thank you for your time.

RE: need knowledge
Welcome and good luck on your search. I love the body styling of the Mid 90's 7s but i cant stand the Rotary engine in them. The REW Rotary engine to me is a piece of junk. from friends expirences with it always having problems. If i were to buy one, i'd put a 2g RX-7 13B in it. just my $ .02

check for oil leaks on engine where aluminum mates to cast iron. If those seals are leaking it's a big pain to fix will get worse. Also make sure the car starts easly when cold and warm. If it has trouble starting could have bad rotor seals. just a couple of ideas, good luck.

RE: need knowledge
My wife has one, a 1987 with 123,000 miles. Car has lots of pep, and is fun to drive. Generally low maintenance, but uses a fair amount of oil, regularly -- about 1 qt in 600 miles. Eventually, we expect to require an engine rebuild, or replacement.
Annunciator lights have stopped working.
Clock stopped displaying most of the time, many years ago, but when it wakes up, it shows the cirrect time.
We've replaced front struts, clutch
Othewise little non routine maintenace.
More enjoyable to drive than our Porsche 911, which we're going to sell.
Much easier to drive in traffic than the Porsche -- softer clutch, easier shift.
