My brother has a 04 Rx8 and he is wanting to put some 20 inch wheels on it. So he went to a wheel place and the guy told him he would need some 20x10s with 245 tires on the back. But I am in to mustangs and know that a 245 tire is for an 8 inch wide wheel and if you go 10 inches wide you need to go with at least 295 wide so you will have rim protection from the tire if you hit a curb or something. So I was thinking that he needs to go with a 275 or a 255 tireon a 9 inch wide wheel. Just wanting to know if I am correct on this or not. And what is the widest tire he can go with. Personally, I don't know if your right or wrong. However, I do know this, putting 20" wheels on a RX-8 would like putting a square pegin a round hole. For starters you will lose more gas mileage and properly lose some ofthe traction control.If your brother is looking for style have him stay with the standard 18" wheels and get some tricked out wheels to match thelook he is looking for.
