Clutch Pressure plate Scuffing In Bellhousing
I Have A mechanical problem. I Recently fitted an aftermarket clutch and lightened flywheel/counterweight to a customers car after their flywheel ring gear detatched. Cant Remember the make of the clutch kit (wasn't a high end product). After Refitting the Gearboxthere was a rubbing noise which after remoing the g/box turned out to be the clutch pressure plate scuffing on the inside of the bellhousing. It has worn away about 5-6mm of the alluminium in the bellhousing and still rubs. The measurements from the engine face to flywheel is the same as with the stock flywheel (We fit An OEM Flywheel and It Still Rubs. My Thoughts Are It Isn't the right Pressure Plate, Or The Eccentric Shaft End Float Is Greatly Excessive. When The Clutch Is Depressed It Doesn't Rub. We Seem To Have End Float Measurements Of About 1.6mm (which I'm Told Is Way Out Of Spec. Is This The Cause And What Driving Conditions Does/Can This Happen Under (ie. Clutch kicking?) Has Anyone Else Encountered This Problem? The Motor Has Done About 53,000 kms.
