Default HELP

I have 92 B2600i 2 wheel PU truck with 287K miles on it. I used fully synthetic motor oil @ specified grade, Lately I've hearing ping sound, or pinging sound when the engine is not at running temp. However as soon as it gets to running temp, the sounds goes away..

I would apprecaite any idea/or help.

Thanks.

Default RE: HELP

Could this ping sound be the unoiled lifters or rocker arms? Once you get going the sound goes away perhaps because oil pressure is up and the oil has then had time to lubricate all the engine parts.
W/287K on the clock, even using synth oil, I would expect things are getting a little strained in there. Parts do wear, tolerances open up.

BTW: Welcome to the forum!! I hope you'll find lots of good information, comraderyand friendship here.
