my 07 auto GT has had no, none, nada, zero problems, nothing has broken or quit working, nothing has needed fixing or adjusting..... yes the in town mileage is less than I'd like, about 15/16 now, on short local trips I get about 21/22. this summer ( provided the price of gas doesn't get too outrageous) i plan a cross country trip and back...about 5800 miles. I'll see again what the long distance mileage will be, i expect excellent. yes it does use oil, it's designed that way, i've added about 3 1/2 qts. in about a year of driving, 11k miles. you have got to remember about posts here that this place is infested with TROLLS. kids who can't afford RX 8's but wish they could, so they drive old mustang V6's and even older toyotas, nissans and other general used up crap. stuff they get cheap, second or third hand from their parents or the no name car dealer just up the road who hasn't a clue how to service an RX8, but who keeps one he got at auction because it's a prestige car to have on the lot to draw lookers. here is another enthusiast forum you might try, it's more adult...and they tend to like the cars they own, also they don't accept Trolls well. http://www.rx8club.com/forumdisplay.php?f=34

i'll add one more thing in fairness, people either tend to absolutely love this car or absolutely hate it. there doesn't seem to be much middle ground about it.

The 8 is an awesome car. Negative feedback is given most of the times by a person who has never owned a Rotary & gets the shock of a lifetime when they learn that the car burns oil.

Yes, the rotary burns more oil than a traditional piston engine. Change your oil every 2K miles, and check your dipstick every few hundred miles or so.

It doesn't hurt to check your backup. You shouldn't get used to relying solely on the meter, in case it breaks (not that it's known to, but it's good to cover all of your bases).
