rx8 starting stopping question
Having gone thru my first deflooding nightmare and being new to the rx8, I would like to know what daily procedures you rx8 owners use to prevent these problems. I saw a stopping and starting video on you tube, where the guy says on morning starts slowly bring rpms up to 2500 or so for 10 seconds, and then the same thing when shutting her down, including shutting vehicle off with your foot on the pedal at 3000 rpm after 10 seconds. This guy says this is required no matter how short a trip taken and everytime. I`m fine with that if that is what`s required. I`m just curious about others with the same vehicle and what you guys do on a daily basis? My vehicle is an 06 rx8 ,104k miles, stock.

When ever you stsrt a RX8, do not turn it off until it has warmed up. They inject excessive fuel to enable the apex seals to seal when the housings are cold and contracted. If you dot left them warm up enough the excess fuel will wet the plugs and the next time you go to start it, t wont start and the more you crank the wetter it gets. Ive lost count of the rx8s that arrive on towtrucks.

Thanks grim reaper, I`ve been driving the car since monday when I finally got her started after my flooding incident. I definitely have not shut her down cold and I bring her up to 4000 rpm for 5 or 6 seconds before I shut her down for the night. So far so good. I think the new plugs, coils, and wires along with a maf sensor cleaning has helped to prevent any new flooding as well. Thanks for responding.

Another poor candidate is diesels with a dpf filter as per quote by Drahimik "its a car to do miles not short trip , the problem in the DPF system."

The number 1 cause ( that I've seen at my old work) of rotary's flooding is people moving them outside to wash, turning them off without warming them up and then they wont start when they want to park it back inside the garage.
