Default Switched to Synthetic

i got my car in august of 07 i've been doing alot of reading/research on synthetic oil. I used to have royal purple and other synthetics in my cobalt, i felt a noticeable difference and was quite happy. so when i got my car i wanted to know if it was recommended. Soo many people said yes while others said no. it came down to the fact that mazda never tested it in the rx8 and didn't recommend it. I decided to take a plunge and finally go for it. As of today I am now using synthetic. I test drove the car on the highway and at my friends house. I feel a better idle and and she definately feels more torquey and faster. as far as I'm concerned it's working just fine. but it's only the first day! time will tell and if it does end up being a problem i can always go back to normal oil!

from what i hear its not that mazda did not test the synthetic oils but more that synthetic oil is made not to break down and repeal heat.and that the oil is used as a huge part of the eng cooling. hense the oil coolers. so useing a synthetic wont realy hurt your car unless you over heat.

on a rotary, the engine is designed to burn oil. that is what the deal is with your car. if you went with a low weight royal purple, you will be alright. as long as you didn't go over 10w-30.

Because synths are so good at lubricating, they are also so good at finding the cracks too. You may find oil consumption up by just a bit.
Just a guess, though. Time, and a close eye on the dipstickwill tell for sure.

i am sorry if i stepped on your toes. i wasn't meaning to, i was just putting out public information. a lot of people are burning up rx-8's right now because they know nothing about them. i know from the posts you have on the other oil thread that you know about the OMP. i just want to spread public information.
