Default 02 Tribute engine problems

this car has run great. I went really low on gas, gas light indicator lit up, but I didn't fill right away. When I started it up two days later, the car was shaking and acting very bad. I had to drive it to get gas and noticed check engine light on and blinking. Got gas, drove short distance, noticed serious power loss. Got it serviced, 3 engine ignition coils replaced. Again noticed power loss while driving around town. Next, while driving on open road, diminished power of engine was seriously bad, but I kept going, no light indicators of trouble but then a hissing sound loud, and I pulled over. Car was towed to the dealer, and I'm waiting to hear.

Is it time to buy a new car? I'm sad, I love my Mazda.

Default Two damaged cat converters and EGR valve $2100.

Wow. I knew it would be a costly repair. I'm just annoyed bec I had 3 ignition coils replaced ten days ago at this same dealer. I don't know why the diagnostic did not detect cat damage at that time, would have been a lot easier and probably cheaper. Is it advisable to use Mazda parts? and if 2 cats are bad, why not the 3rd? Is that one likely to fail as well in the very near future?

Thanks.
