Default 2001 Mazda Tribute Problems

1. I recently had the passenger side exterior door handle stop working. I am sure some piece broken from the linkage to the door cable, but need to have help in removing the handle to make sure. Any help with schematics or instructions would be great.

2. The rear power door lock on the rear hatch is inconsistent on locking and unlocking with the fob or power door lock button on the interior. I assume i will have to replace the entire thing , but any suggestions would be appreciated.

What year Trib do you have Spazm? Failure of the door latch assembly is somewhat common. Also seeing a lot of breaking inner handles so try to get fixed before inner breaks as well. Front door panels are near impossible to get off when you cannot even open the door at all. You need to remove the inner door panel to get access to anything. Couple of pics below of all four screws that need to come out then pull trim panel straight away from the door. Plastic retaining clips are often very tight but if all four of those screws have been removed just pull hard. Note that you will need to remove the plastic part of the clip that stayed in the door sheet metal and install back onto clips that stayed with the door panel. Breakage off all the clips will happen if this is not done. Will try to get up a pic of the clips and how they should look just prior to reinstalling the door panel.
Rear hatch lock is probably the motor. Was it making any loud buzzing noises before it quit working?

Once you get this screw that is hidden under plastic cover off then remove the inner handle trim.

Screw in upper front is hidden under plastic cover. The other screw shown is on rear edge of trim panel.

Thanks for the help. The anti theft device that holds the exterior door handle in place broke. Actually the only piece of metal on the plastic piece broke. The one that hold the metal rod to the door lock. I replaced it , but had to trim some plastic from the protector the it attaches to because Ford beefed up the metal part.

It is the rear hatch motor assembly, but I don't feel the need to replace it for $250.00 yet. Not that important to me.
