Default 2006 Tribute, loud road noise

This is my wife's truck. When I am drivng I can hear this loud roaring or rumbling noise. As I slow down, like at a red light, it gets louder and lower in tone. It goes away when I come to a comeplete stop. My guess is the tires are making the noise, but why? The tires are Goodyear Integrity I think, I will check tonight. I read somewhere online about the alignment could be off. Any ideas on what else it can be or what to look at?

Thanks.

Do this: look at the tires and run your hands over them. I bet you can feel that they are scalloped over the treads and show a saw tooth pattern on the blocks. The Tribute is a sister model of the Ford Escape and my sister-in -law had the same experience. I went to a tire shop and the guy told me that the only thing he could do is adjust a little more toe-in to compensate for the factory designed negative camber.
You likely need new tires and such an adjustment. ..and a whole lot of finger crossing that it will work.
