Default airbag code

I have an 04 trib with approximatly 72000 miles. The airbag light has come on again, but this time they say were out of warrenty and we'll have to pay for the diagnostic. Well this is the third time we've had this same problem and I was just wanting to know what the flashing light indicated. The pattern was 4 blinks stop 6 blinks. Well thanks for any help.

Default RE: airbag code

I beleive this is a LFC (Lamp Fault Code). This happens when the RCM (Restraint Control Module) detects a system fault, it will cause the air bag indicator to flash a coded sequence or LFC. The code is two digits, the first is flashed in .5 sec. intervals and the second also flash with the same interval. There is a 5 second pause between each of these sequences. If there are multiple LFC's, each LFC will flash in order of priority. Going by your desciption the 4 and 6 would be a LFC 46, which indicates the Impact Sensor Status (Passenger Side) Second Row Impact Sensor Circuit Fault. It would be helpful if you had the DTC diagnostic code , which some automotive parts stores will check for free. Possible fault conditions: low resistance, circuit open, circuit short to voltage, and circuit short to gnd. May be damaged wiring ,terminals or connections, a faulty impact sensor. incorrect sensor mounting or the RCM is faulted.
