Default Airbag light on solid

Girlfriend bought a 2001 Tribute last year...big mistake. Lots of headaches for me... Apparently the guy she bought it from said it was in an accident and the airbag light has been on solid ever since. All the airbags seem to be intact and the seat belt restraints are ok. I did check the infamous yellow plugs and cut them out and soldered the wires together. I'm thinking that the truck was in an accident and the airbags went off etc. He replaced everything, but told her that the module needed to be reset. Mazda wants me to bring it in (at my cost $$$) blah blah. If I bought a used airbag module and swapped it out with the one that's in it right now, would the airbag light go out?
