Default Cruise Control won't Turn On

2001 Tribute ES

"Cruise" light won't come on when pressing the "on" button on steering wheel.

I have done the following:
- Checked every fuse, with a voltmeter, and verified they are all functioning.
- Replaced switch on brake pedal as my original one was outside of 5ohm specs.
- Done test sequence (hold "off" button, turn key to run, and press each button). When pressing each button the cruise light flashes once for each of them.
- Cable is attached to throttle body (although without the system turning on this really isn't a concern yet).

What else am I missing?

I've had similar problems in a different vehicle and ended up just giving up. I hate electrical issues! I would have to just suggest testing/replacing the servo actuator, but of course I'd first want to try just a hard reset on the PCM(if it has anything to do with it) and unhook the battery for a while. I'm sure someone else knows loads more than I do about this.

Did you get the cruise sorted out? I have the same issue, the CRUISE light is not coming on when the button is pressed. Cruise does not work at all. Fuses are ok, switch appears ok. Interested in the test function that has been mentioned, is it written down somewhere? Thanks
