Hard starting
Hi all,
New to the forum! Have got a 2004 3litre tribute. Have never had any issues with my tribute in the past. It did it a few times last winter and had started doing it in the damp this winter. When cold on a morning it takes many turnings over of the engine to start the car and sometimes you need to try a couple of times. Normally a quick turn of the key and it fired straight up.
Any ideas anyone?
Thank you in advance!

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
The car does some times not feel too pokey, just assumed that was because it does 80k miles. Doesn't seem to coincide with the starting issue. No engine like on at all. And the car only seems to do it first start of the day!
Thanks.

80 K miles, toby.
How about new spark plugs, wires and maybe coil pack (if that is what you have). New air filter and a cleaning of the MAF sensor with MAF sensor cleaner. Running a few tanks with Gum-out or Techron Fuel system treatment won't hurt either.
Good luck.

Yes, replace the leads to the plugs. and yes, you can clean the MAF sensor. Use only MAF sensor cleaner spray, do not touch the sensor wires. Watch a Youtube video on how to do it right, doesn't matter what car they use in the video.
