HELP! Please

Yesterday :
I unhooked the neg - terminal on the battery leaving the tailgate and driver`s door open (interior lamps on).
Sat in the car and pumped the brake pedal about 5 times, pushed the horn and turned the light switch on and then off twice.
Changed the Air Filter.
1 hour later I reconnected the battery and turned the ignition on. The gauge needles swung across and then back. I started the engine and left it ticking over 20mins. while I put in the radio code and tuned it in to some stations. Switched off the ignition, locked up and went indoors for lunch.
Today:
Started the car and went 22 miles to the shops and back.(Driving like an old Grandma) Drove slow 30 in a 30, 40 in a 40 limit so as the EEC did not pick up any of my bad driving habits while it was setting itself in to the new vacuum pipes, new MAF sensor and new Air Filter.
When I reached home I switched off the engine and checked for any codes.
I have NO codes now (touch wood) and NO Engine Check Light.
