Default oem radio has no power

hello to all members
im a newbie on here, so thanks in advance for all the help!

trying to upgrade the radio oem, to a Kenwood kdc-hd548u, which my cousin had given me. It had a different connector so I laid it aside, figured would look into different connectors at best buy/radio shack or somewhere.

when I reconnected/installed the oem radio back,
it has no power/no display.
I checked fuses under the dash on passenger side and they're ok.

I've tried researching site, and don't get anything.
hope someone can help...

Never experienced this, I leave that stuff to the professional installers.
Since it's part of computer somehow, you may want to re-set your ECU:

okay, tried the quick resetting, as per the links above and nothing...

thanks for help anyway...anyway to test the radio on its own, meaning uninstalling radio and trying to see if with power (say a 9volt) I will at least see the lights on it come on??? thanks to one and all...stuck, frustrated and would hate to spend money on another radio if this one would still be in working condition. i'm broke, been out of work for a couple of years, not asking for a towel to dry my tears, just hoping for some help...thanks, bless

Have you checked all the Audio fuses?
Partially remove the radio, leave it plugged in, check that you have a constant 12v
( regardless of key position) in 1 wire, and 12v when the key is on in another wire. Also check the earth wire is connected.

ok, I think I tried checking correctly, with a continuity tester!
can someone mention any other steps or exact steps for me to be able to check again.
i'm trying all things before taking it to a shop. I really can't afford that though, thanks
