Default Power steering pump sensor?

My power steering pump has started spilling its guts. Looks to be coming from around/out the back of the little sensor thats on the engine side of the pump (has a couple of wires coming out of it). Does anyone know if I can buy just a replacement sensor in the UK. or indeed can I just put a bolt in there and blank it off?

Thanks.

The switch is to inform the PCM that there is a load, IE turning. The PCM will bump the idle up to compensate for the load. In other words, you can put a plug in the hole and probably never notice a big difference. However it will likely kick a check engine light with that switch missing.

Thank you thats very informative. Do you know if these can be bought independently of the whole pump? Or even know if these are known to fail?

They can be bought seperate from the pump. I replace maybe 1 every few months on various cars. Not uncommon at all.
