Default Is there a trick to separate electrical connectors?

I have an 02 Tribute LX. The odometer light went out so I attempted to remove the dash panel to get access to the bulb. After removing the 2 screws holding the panel I was able to separate the panel from the dash but can't remove it entirely because of the electrical cables held together by the connectors. I tried disconnecting the firstconnector (fog lamp)by pulling it apart but I couldn't. Is there a tool to separate electrical connectors? I stopped going further because there are probably about 8 otherconnectors (mirror adjustment, defrost, a/c adjustment, etc.)I have to disconnect and I don't want to damage the connectors. Once I figure out to pull the connectors apart, replacing the odometer light bulb should be very easy. Your help is greatly appreciated.

I have an 05' and there is nothing special about removing the connection, use a thin flat screw driver,

I thought about doing that but did not want to poke in the wrong hole and damage the connector. Your picture really helps and I will try that. I hope it's a similar technique for separating the other connectors.Thank you Tribby05!
