I have to buy a new set of tires for my 2003 Tribute. The dealer recommended Michelin LTX M/S 235-70R16. Is there a better tire for daily non-offroad use? We have little ice and show here.

Take a look at www.tirerack.com for excellent survey information on tires for your vehicle. I wound up selecting a set of Yokohama Geolander H/T-S G051 for my '02 Tribute, and I love them. I also recently purchased a set of Goodyear Fortera TripleTred for my Expedition and they, too, are awesome. I've had nothing but great luck with tirerack.com survey information (even though I buy them locally!). Look for this link to see the whole survey: "Compare this tire to other highway all-season tires". Good luck!

And the Michelin LTX M/S did great, too! On my Expedition, that's what the Goodyear's replaced. The Michelin's were good, but the tread life wasn't.......

I just replaced the stock continentals which weren't very, and bought goodyear tracker 2 tires. There are a one off made for walmart, took the chance have about 7k on them, we'll see how long they last. Tire wear estimated to last 80 kilometers. So far so good !

Thenumber one priority for my next set of tires (originals are still on) is QUIETNESS. I have 35K miles on the original Continentals. I hope I can stand their irritating noise for the next year or so until they are due for replacement.

And "Noise Comfort" is actually one of the ratings shown on the www.tirerack.com surveys! I agree about the Continental ContiTrac. The noise was annoying. But the decrease in noise when I switched to the Yokohama's was immediately apparent, and very welcome!

I just bought four Michelin LTX M/S tires for $620 out the door at Costco. They had them installed in just over an hour. So far so good.

I purchased my 2002 4WD Tribute with 12K miles on it. I bought a set of tires after driving for a year and a half because of the unbearable noise. I thought I had transaxle problems but was told the tires were scalloped. New tires and 3 years later the noise is still low. I try to get a tire rotation every oil change. I suggest that if you are going to replace the tires in a year you might as well do it now and enjoy a much quieter ride.

I bought some Futura brand tires at our local Pep Boys and have been very satisfied with them. Nothing fancy, I bet they cost only about $100 each after it was all said and done (3 years ago price). I have put over 30K miles on them and they still have plenty of tread life.
