When to tune up?

When to tune up?
My 2003 Tribute has 75,000 miles on it. My mechanic just told me that it does not need a tune up until 100,000 miles. That seems like a long time to run spark plugs. I am inclined to go ahead and tune it. Any thoughts?

RE: When to tune up?
Make sure you ask exactly what the tune-up includes. I'd be real surprised if it includes replacing spark plugs for only $60. I would think there is at least an hour minimum labor involved (here in the states it's around $80/hr for service labor)
Not sure on the recommended mileage for fuel filter replacement, but many of those service items are going upwards of 100K miles these days.

RE: When to tune up?
many thanks, I haven't found any dealer or mechanics which are honest. there are plenty suplier-induced-demand out there, because they know if they suggest something, they might have chance to earn extra in fixing some parts which is not necessary. My old GM holden duel fuel had a stalling problem, but the mechanic went around the problem and costed me more than 1000 bucks, after which I discovered the problem is only a small switch which cost 60 totally to fix.
