Intermittent noise after driving fast
If I have been driving fast for a while (on a motorway, say), when I get on to slower roads I hear a kind of metallic-sounding grating noise which seems in time with the rotation of the wheels. The noise may well start when I am driving faster but with the road noise drowning it out. It may also happen more in the dry but I may be wrong there – it’s rather unpredictable. When I stop, the noise stops.
Yesterday I was in slow-moving traffic travelling down a hill and it got really loud but when I touched the break, it seemed to get quieter.
Anyone else experienced this or has any ideas what it might be? My local garage couldn't replicate the sound (because they didn’t do a long motorway drive!) and couldn’t see any problems when they put it up on the ramp.

Sounds a bit like you have a binding caliper which is heating up the brake which is inturn heating up the hub and making the grease inside the hub very very thin during your high speed running. Check the brake calipers all round.

Thank you, that”s worth checking.
