I have an '04 hatch that I've not put too many miles on, under 60k, but it has mostly sat outside with sparse maintenance. The last time I brought it in to get emissions tested, the battery had died, which apparently resets the ECM. So I put in a new battery and drove it for the minimum 50 miles plus, then brought it in to be inspected. When the tech tried to plug it in to the reader, he said that the ECM had lost the emissions info when plugging in to the reader. He said that is was a "known issue" with Mazdas, and that I had to go drive it again for another 50 miles and come back. With no guarantee of anything stopping it from losing the emissions info again. Is there anything I can do to fix this and/or ensure that the emissions info is captured?
