Might someone, who has one of these new 2.0 L SkyActiv Mazda 3's, tell us:

How many RPM does the automatic transmission turn at 65 MPH?
(The brochure doesn't provide gear and final-drive ratios etc.)

How many MPG does the automatic transmission get at a steady 65 MPH ? ... e.g. if you ran a tank on a cross-country trip.

Its about 2100 RPM. I don't know the MPG yet, I get a consistent 28 around the city.

 

yup; I got a chance to test-drive a new 2.0 L Mazda 3 ... and carefully noted that at 65 mph it was turning 1,900 rpm, which is nice, tall top gearing, designed to optimize mpg.

By way of comparison, my 2,800 pound `07 Civic turns 2,100 rpm at 65 mph and gets 45 mpg at that speed.

As to the mpg at 65 mph, we have yet to see someone report from running a tank down across Kansas ... and carefully measuring mpg.
