Default 2005 mazda 3 turbo engine swap

Ok i have a non turbo automatic 2005 mazda 3. I was wondering if it would be possible to swap the turbo engine and tranny from the mazdaspeed 3. Any help would be appreciated.

It's been discussed at length before and the general consensus is that it would be too hard and more expensive than trading in the na for a Speed, or simply turbocharging what you already have as the alternative.

Sell your car and buy the Speed. It will cost you less and be more reliable.

Wouldnt it jsut be better to buy an aftermarket turbo, since it can be a bigger turbo then the speed3?

There is more than just buying an aftermarket turbo andbolting it on.You would have to take into consideration if the tranny could handle that much power (keep in mind the Speed3 puts out about 15 psi maxboost). Other considerations are the Pistons, Cooling, Cams, etc. Keep in mind that the turbo may not be smog legal for your state as well. As mentioned if you can swing it, trade in or sell your current vehicle and get a Speed.

AM turbo kit = $4K!!!! ($4K+$19K= $23K, but w/o warranty, 6-sp, LSD, heavy duty axles, etc....)

Trade in the '05 and buy a Speed. Then if you must upgrade it, wait for a deal to come along.

Just my .02.

you left a couple of things out there. the controllers on any of the turbo kits out right now don't support the kit very well (fuel wise). also, you should have some type of variable valve timing that doesn't support turbo as well as the speed model's non-variable system. you could find some time of controller for the variable system, but again, kind of iffy on those right now. the best bet is to buy a speed model.

Not to mention the Speed also had a limited slip diff and is physically wider than a regular 3.

I'm also pretty sure the engine has forged internals (meaning it's definitely strong enough to go higher in power.)
