2006 Mazda 3 Engine Noise
#11
I notice it mostly on the interstate so I'm driving at least 55. Are any of these "bad bearings on any pullies, worn serpentine belt, worn motor mounts" something that the mechanics would catch while working on the car like doing an oil change or 30,000 mile work up?
That depends on just how dedicated the service department is.
My advice would be to take the car in to the dealer service department and explain what you are hearing.
Remember, we dudes with a 2006 are comming to the end of our manufacturer's warranty, and unless you have a good extended warranty, you will be paying out of pocket for repairs.
The service department is there to solve problems, so take your "problem" noise in so they can hear it,and do it before your warranty runs out.
They will drive the car with you in it, and can get a pretty good idea of what speed it usually kicks in.
As already explained here on the forum, the variables are many, and you need a qualified service tech to drive the vehicle to see where the problem exist.

I was hoping to have an idea of what it could be before going into the dealer. I will definitely make a point to take it in. Thanks for all your help. I'll post the solution once I've gotten one. - Man I hope my warranty hasn't expired yet!

Your basic warranty is 48 months or 50,ooo miles whichever comes first.
They start counting the months from when the vehicle was first delivered to the original owner.
Most emission parts have a longer warranty, but your problem doesn't sound like it is emission related.
Keep us posted.
