Default 2008 2.3 sri

Ok, so as far as a Short Ram Intake, what options do I have.

Who makes them?, anybody had good/bad experiences with any of them?

Living in Central IL and seeing all of the seasons in one month or more, I would like to have something a little closer to the engine and farther from these unforgiving roads, so I figured the SRI would be the way for me to go.

But I'm just curious on others people's opinions as far as brands.

I'm sure someone else will jump in but, from what I've seen and read there's a company that makes a SRI and one or two others that make a CAI that can be shortened. And the numbers for the SRI versus price makes it not worth it. The power numbers are half that of a CAI and the price is equal to a CAI. (From what I've read.)

The only issue I have with the full CAI is the fact of how low it will sit in the engine compartment. We get the worst of all seasons where I live and am worried about too much moisture getting to it.

But you're not driving through streams.

You have a point.

Well, then my question is, how protected is the filter where a CAI sits in the engine compartment? It does flood in the spring, summer, and fall. And we see our fair shair of snow, slush, and freezing rain also.

I just wasn't sure if there would be many problems with it being exposed to the elements.

then a cai is not something you want, if you get a sri w/o a box that shields it from the engine head then i suggest you find someone who could build one.

This is one that you dont want (weapon-R)

These are the types you want

Also if you really want to maximize its cooling, get the outside painted black to increase heat dissipation, therefore keeping the charge much cooler.

The 2.3 is the FoMoCo Duratec, right? I've heard the Focus guys love the Steeda SRI.

If you are worried about moisture getting into to your engine, AEM has a bypass valve that is supposed to prevent water from entering the engine. Only availabe for the AEM CAI though...

No, the 2.3 nor the 2.0 is a duratec (sound like a broken record), its almost the same platform though, you can use the intake from a focus but the clearances may be different, same thing with the exhaust, but those are the only parts that are interchangeable.
