2010 Mazda 3 Ipod Intergration???
Specifically a Mazda 3i touring. I know that the center glove box has a connection for the ipod, and it does go through the radio, but I have no way to control the ipod unless I use the Ipod itself. I believe that I should be able to use my steering wheel buttons as well as the regular radio to control my Ipod. I can't figure out how, and I haven't had much help looking through the car manual. It is funny b/c the bluetooth intergration wasn't a problem, but all I want to do is have my Ipod link so that I can see what song is playing and be able to switch that (you can't go to your center glove box everytime you want to change a song). The only thing that the Ipod jack does for the stereo is let you control the volume.
Has anyone else had this problem or found a way to fix it?

OK people... pay attention
When you have a little round hole that you plug a headphone jack into... that is NOT iPod integration! That's an analog audio input, and all you can do with it is feed whatever audio your iPod is playing into the stereo.
K?
iPod integration is done through an optional module. MyMazda.com lists the module at $142, and the harness at $108. Then you'll have to get someone (your dealer) to install it. That's what you need to get "integration".
You aren't the first with this misconception... Read more at: https://www.mazdaforum.com/forum/mazda3-26/ipod-connectivity-new-2010-m3-18266/
Perhaps our friendly dealers aren't so well trained on the meaning of "integration".
Until then, please pay attention to the road, not your iPod.

Screw that.
Buy the materials to install an aftermarket radio with iPod capability and matching iPod adapter for said radio for around the same or not much more in cost. Not only will you have the iPod integration, but more features with your radio and more than likely a much clearer sound that what the factory radio can put out.
Haven't listened to a 2010 stereo yet but my 2008 stereo was awful. It wasn't bad at low volumes but the treble was horribly low at high volumes.
My aftermarket setup sounds a ton better than what the factory radio could put out.

I've got the 6 CD Bose Centerpoint on my 2010. I think it sounds pretty good, as long as there's a high quality source. But - 128 kbps MP3s sound pretty bad on it - the highs get all "crinkly" (best I can describe it). Anything with poor quality just gets worse. I wouldn't have paid extra for the upgraded stereo, but they bundle it with the sunroof - which is what I really wanted.
But having 60 hours of MP3s loaded on the stereo isn't anything to sneeze at - I don't really feel the need to hook up an iPod.
I'm guessing replacing the stereo would disable the Bluetooth integration, which is too good to miss. I'm not that much of an audiophile.

Wait...the stereo has a hard drive to upload music too? I guess I need to recheck my manual. How do you do this, and how much space does my stereo have?
Am I just misunderstanding what you were saying????

Oh okay gotcha.
Maybe just personal preference... just seems more sense to not get anything fancy from the factory and do your own customization. In my experience it gets me better sound, better control, and decent dollar value to have a happily badass stereo.

No... 6 CD changer, and I keep 5 in there loaded with MP3s. (and a little post-it with what's on which disc) I get about 8-10 hrs per disk, so I guess 60 hrs was an little exaggeration. I also have about 3 GB of MP3s on my phone, but there's a fair amount of overlap there.
