Nah, the S2000 has a more chiseled jaw, despite its small size. Kind of like a body builder who happens to be 5'5.

Jeez Vince. You ain't given' me ANY breaks these days, are you....?

What can I tell you? That's what I saw when I first looked at this picture.
The 350Z is a good one too. I def see that influence in there too.

It screams RX-8 to me. The large opening in the middle of the front fascia and the distinct fender bulges above the front tires. I like it.

I agree with V1, if you make the car bigger, and put a 2.5 in it, in the end, the performanceis likely tobe no better. In fact, what the new Mazda3 may effectively be with larger dimensionsis a small mid size (no longer a compact). What compact these days has a 2.5?

Here's a link that has some interesting comments/speculation:

Iam curious to seewhat the "well defined cavities" of the front end will look like in person ... ifyou look at anenlarged version ofthe pic, itlooks like the cavitiesarefilled withmatte black plastic in a zig zaggy pattern of some kind. Will it be cool, orseem like an excess ofblack plastic?

According to that Fuel Economy went up 1 MPG on both cityand highway since the 08 2.3 is 22/29, probably by going to 6 speed in both transmissions.

That"s2 morethan the new 6 gets w/the same eng/trans too.Of course that is a bigger, heavier car.
I"m glad to have the 2.5L/6-sp as an option, butfor God"s sakewhy don"t they go toa more efficient intake/exhaust VVT system? More useable power and better economy too.

Nope! I"m just not diggin" the way those fog light surrounds stick out at the top.It doesn't seem like aerodynamics was at the top of their list w/that one.
And having headlight that big and that jut up past the hood that far is asking for troublefrom sun/UV damage too, as if that"s not all ready a potential problem.
I had some hazing already beginning near the top of mine over a year ago before installing the RockBlockers which actually seem to have helped stop that.
At least they FINALLY took that stupid turn signal repeater off of the fenders and put it where it belongs... on the side mirrors.
I dunno? I'm kinda" luke-warm to this design.

I looked again last night at the collectiuon of spy photos starting from May......I saw three trims,

(1) the very basic i trim has one exhaust, fog light housing flush with bumper with two horizontal dividers. It does nothave side turn signal, not on the mirror either. projector low beam, separate hi-beam; 15-in steel wheels; non-LED tail.
(2) probaly touring trim, same headlight as in (1), 16-in alloy wheels, same fog housing as in (1), no turn signal on mirror nor on side body.
(3) the range top depicted by the "official" photos and other spy shots, bi-xenon headlight, LED tail, turn signal mirror, extruding fog housing (it seemed it serves as air intakes in one of the spy shots, official photo does not seem real on what's behind the grille.) This trim seem to have the front lower lip and slits.

There's report saying mazda achieved 25% weight reduction, which is about 740lbs. This alone can increase the MPG big time if true. There's also report that both 2.0L and 2.5L engines would be direct injection with stop-start. DI is good for torque in usable rpm range (10% increase 0-4000rpm). The 2009 mazda6 has the 2.5, but not DI.

I really wanted to see improvements on mechanics and controls, which to me is more sustantial than exterior. And a big hope is that they do a better job on weight distribution on the sedan.

The 3rd brake light is a no-go, wrong design (not LED even with LED tail), wrong place (better at top of rear window, with LED strip). just bad.

So does the main opening of the grille area, the photo is not real on this regard. see below.

I hope Mazda is not going to try and sell the steering wheel tape as a performanceoption?
