I'm looking for an after-market downpipe for my 2010 Mazdaspeed 3. I've installed a downpipe before with great results, faster turbo spool times and better throttle response on a Supra. This question is in to parts;

1: Does the down pipe help enough with the Mazdaspeed 3 to warrent the price, and
2: Did things change that much from the later 3's that the 2009 down-pipe will not fit the 2010?

Additional information: I plan on installing Magnaflow mufflers as well, keeping the look clean and going for a good sound. I'd like also to get an BOV you can actually hear... That might be another post soon

 

1. the abrupt power from the older models isnt there in the 2010, so in a sense its faster off the line but the "remapped" tuning makes the car get through the rpm band a little slower. an aftermarket dp will do what its supposed to do, you gotta pay to play.

2. downpipe from the older year fits as well as many other parts

3. a stock motor and turbo fitted with a atmospheric bov (the ones you can hear) hinders engine performance, in short if you got the dp, you would gain (a little), then putting on bov thats not recirc you pretty much just put yourself right back to stock except you sound like your going faster.

 

Thank you Tracker, looks like you saved me some money toward a mod that might actually do something. Possibly a couple of mufflers for a good sound first.
