I am getting a vapor canister code and gas tank leak at the top of the tank. I am in the process of removing the tank. I thought at first the tank had rodent damage but it looks like something else. Could be the gasket around the fuel pump or some cone shaped white valve just outside the fuel pump flange. This looks like something put there just to create a leak. I am trying to get all the lines off the tank right now. This has been going on for a while. I am beginning to wish I would have just lived with the problem and hope I did go up in flames. I am glad I took it a part myself because I probable would have hurt someone at the dealer when I got the bill. I figure they would ream me for at least $2000. Car ain't worth that much LOL. I have heard of something called a purge valve? What is that?

I think I am going to just patch this line. It is head welded on and will be hard to fix even with the factory hose. I think I will find some gas like to splice in. I might have to use some sort of metal insert to keep the hose from collapsing. This is rodent damage but not as bad as I thought it might be if the tank were holed. Insurance would have paid to fix this but wanted to make sure. Taking this to someone to fix will cost me more time in the long run. Being an hour from a dealer would make it a half day affair just dropping it off or picking it up. The filler line hose needs replacing as well.
