Default AC question please help

Hi, I just bought a 2006 Mazda 3 cheap from a mazda dealer because it does not include factory ac. The salesman assured me I can have it installed although this dealer does not have the parts to do so. He said I need to find a retrofit ac kit. I googled this and cannot find any leads. Can anyone help?

I think your dealer took you for a ride...You'd need to change quite a bit to add AC...You need to add an AC compressor, all of the lines, and a new control head in your instrument panel.

How the hell can a dealer tell you that you can retrofit these parts to your car, then tell you that they, a certified Mazda dealer, doesn't even have the parts?

It sounds like the dealer was talking about having an aftermarket unit installed vs. the OEM one. And it definitely sounds a bit sketchy.

Also, some cars (don't know about the Mazda 3), if they don't come with AC, will have a lower capacity cooling system - which could have trouble handling the extra load that after market AC would put on the cooling system. If you really want AC, I would see if you can return the car you just bought. In many states, their is law that requiresa dealer to take back a carwithin a few days, or up to week, after the sale date, if you did not put very many miles on it.
