It's interesting to me to note the number of people who by virtue of age are not in the so called "target demographic" age group for this car. Myself included. This is a topic about which I have had long and heated debates with some of the guys over at Ford who are for some strange reason absolutely convinced that a car must be tailored to a certain demographic group. I have tried (with almost no success) to explain to them that people do not fit into the cookie cutter boxes that corporations like to think they do. They do not see it that way of course and even went so far as to describe to me the kind of person that is the target customer for the new Ford Edge, right down to his job and taste in clothes. One of them even went so far as to tell me that the Mercury line is targeted towards Women, minorities and lesbians. Apparently they build cars according to your sexual preference now. lol Ford wonders why it's in trouble. What ever happened to just building cars and letting the population decided weather or not it suits them? I guess that makes to much sense. Corporate execs like to feel like they are in absolute total control of the situation from manufacturing to retailing. They refuse to accept that when it comes to selling the cars, it's pretty much out of their hands. People will buy them or they won't and they certainly won't buy them based on some corporations demographic formula. If sports cars were youth oriented you wouldn't see 50 year old men driving Corvettes would you? lol
