Another Intake thread
i searched here and searched other forums but didn't get a straight forward answer. I will be installing my fujita CAI this weekend and was wondering should i convert it to SRI or leave it. I WANT POWER, so which ever one produces more HP is what i will go with. As for rain, i have never went through a puddle that was more than 1ft, and i heard that in order for your engine to hydrolock the filter has to be submerged in water...my car isnt even lowered.

RE: Another Intake thread
CAI - Cold Air Intake - longer piping - takes in "cold outside air" from inside your fender someplace, typically. bigger hp/tq gains, good for highway passing. risk hydrolocking the engine if too much water is sucked in since it is situated down low (water in an air intake system isn't desireable)
SRI - Short Ram Intake - short piping - air filter sits inside engine bay, preferably behind an enclosure to block some engine heat. slightly smaller gains then when compared to a CAI. good for launching since the distance the air has to travel is short. safe because it will never hydrolock since it is right under your hood.
if you would like specifics, i'd look no further than google.com

RE: Another Intake thread
The MS, like the AEM and Injen's are not convertiblefrom CAI to SRI, but one of the two available K&N Typhoon series is.
And like you illude to , it's nothing but a split, two-piece CAI w/a second rubber connector intalled between the tubes.
And Mike, good description of the CAI vs. SRI!!

RE: Another Intake thread
since were talkin bout intakes here i have the fujita f5 installed but i have a slight problem
I got a CEL yesterday (not happy about)
when i popped the hood i noticed that one of the silicon hoses that runs to my air sensor is cracked. I am assuming that is why i have a CEL since the car has 12g on it for miles. My friend told me to replace the hose and flash the ecu by disconnected the battery...
any other suggestions??
thanks guys
