okay so heres the deal, i have a 2008 mazdaspeed3 w/ tune coldd air intake, and BOV, and i was wandering if anyone knew if with some custom fabrication would i be able to take the awd transfer case from a mazdaspeed6 and possiby the front differentials, would i be able to convert it to AWD or would i have to go pull a VOLVO AWD transfercase and go about it that way with custom front diffs. if anyone has aqired any information about this if you could e mail me or post on my thread! THANKS!!!

I figured someone had done it, certainly the Rally crews, but I hadn't seen that one before. Cool! Nice find, Ken.
I wonder if it has the same less than stellar handling problems the MS6 has? I haven't driven one myself, but from the articles I had read in '06 the journalists were less than completely happy with the car/performance/price... at least on asphalt.
A completely RWD MS3 would've been the way to go, imho. No fancy electronics to get the power to the ground in 1st and 2nd, plus no additional parasitic drivetrain loss like with AWD.
That's the car I would've built.

yah thanks man im in class right now but ill be sure to read it all when i have time at home... i would deff love RWD MS3 but... how foreward the stance is with the car (at least on mine) i dont think there is enough weight in the back to keep the wheels sticking to the ground haha... it would be a lot of suspension work i would need to do to get the wheel weight in the back to hold a little bit more, my goal is about 350 AWHP with 70% RW and 30% FW... basically like Ken Blocks or however you spell his name's STI he uses for his rally racing

and on top of that, i think theyre going to come out with an AWD one in the near future... so ive heard.... but im really bummin about not having a stock boost guage... haha

That's the car I would've built.
I was sent that link from someone that goes to SEMA every year right after I got the PPM 07, they said I needed to do that with mine LOL
The 1 person I know personally with a MS6 said it lost a lot of its ill handling character when he lowered it and went with a different tire other than stock.

Weight naturally transfers rearward under acceleration. I don't think you'd have any problems hooking up if you went RWD.

Anything can be done given enough time, money and talent. (or a combination of those)

Of course you're right Scott, but there's a point at which it becomes impractical and less so just to buy a RWD vehicle (w/power) in the first place.

True...but that's how I feel about trying to make FWD vehicles fast in the first place.

Much better off just starting with RWD.
