Default Bald tires already!!!

I have an 05 M3 with the 17" rims. i have had the car for a year and a half and there is only 26,600 miles on it and all of my tires are bald already! I was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem. thanks.

Have you rotated them? The negative camber designed in the rear suspension can eat tires fairly quick if you don't rotate regularly.

I would go to mazda every 5000 miles to get an oil change and they would rotate the tires also. As for my driving style when i first got the car i was doing fast starts at stop lights but when gas prices went up i changed my driving style significantly. i went from getting only 280miles a tank on 93 to getting close to 340miles on 87. I wouldnt spin the tires out, i wouldnt do doughnuts. i was driving the car rough for only about 6 months but after that i still had tread. How many miles does the tire warranty cover? They're the goodyear tires. I was reading the waranty pamphlet that came with the car and it didn't specify how many miles. i am wondering if i am eligable.
thanks.

BTW...There is absolutely no benefit to your car to run anything higher than 87 Octane. That is what the car is designed to run on.

I rotate about ~6,000 miles.

assuming:

1. there is nothing mechanically wrong with your car
2. You rotated the tires
3. kept the proper air pressure

There is not much left to affect tire wear, other than driving style, and choice of tire compound. If you drove the car hard, you could have easily lost 10-15k miles from them.

I've bought new Fords, Dodges, GM's - and all of them came with tires that lasted about 25K - 30K miles. It seems most manufacturers put good, but soft rubber tires on their new cars to quiet and soften the ride to make the test drive more appealing. I don't know if the Japanese take this approach.
